Learning support staff have a positive impact on student achievement …

„Research shows that learning support staff have a positive impact on student achievement, allowing learners to receive prompt attention and individualized help. Non-teaching staff also contribute to decreasing drop-out and keeping learners in school. For instance, there is evidence to suggest that as the number of nurses in schools increases, the number of student absences decreases. Support staff members play a crucial pastoral role in learners’ lives, forging caring and trusting relationships with them and getting to know their lives outside of school, often in ways that teachers do not always have the time or professional training to do.”
