„In early childhood, parents play important roles in cultivating children’s skills and interests. They invest in their children by creating a nurturing and stimulating home environment. This involves structural factors such as books and toys, routines to promote sleep, physical activity and healthy eating, and the safety of the home environment, as well as process factors, such as the amount of time the parents spend interacting with the child and the quality of these interactions, i.e. parental behaviors. There is a large gap between advantaged and disadvantaged families in how parents invest in their children’s home environment.“
